Explanation of Float-Type Level Transmitter Installation and Wiring

Update Time:2025-05-25

A float-type level transmitter is an instrument used to measure the height of a liquid level. It uses a float installed in a container or tank to detect changes in the liquid level and converts the signal into a corresponding voltage or current output for monitoring and control purposes.

In practical applications, the installation and wiring of a float-type level transmitter are critical, as they directly affect the accuracy and stability of the measurement. The following outlines some common installation methods for float-type level transmitters.

1. Direct Insertion Method: This is a common installation method suitable for containers and tanks with mounting holes at the bottom. The transmitter is installed over the hole, allowing the float to move freely up and down, while ensuring a tight seal between the transmitter and the container to prevent leakage.

2. Magnetic Coupling Method: This method is suitable for applications requiring a high degree of sealing and where direct contact with the liquid is not permitted. A magnetic coupling device connects the float-type level transmitter to the container, transmitting level information via a magnetic field. This method is unaffected by the properties of the liquid and has a broader range of applications.

3. External Mounting: This method is suitable for situations where there are no structural requirements for the vessel or where drilling holes in the vessel is not permitted. The float-type level transmitter is installed on the outside of the vessel, and the liquid is guided through a conduit to the transmitter for measurement. It should be noted that fluid resistance and leakage issues may occur within the conduit.

Regardless of the connection method used, the following points should be observed:

Select the appropriate model and specifications of the float-type level transmitter, determining the measurement range and accuracy based on actual operating conditions. Install the float-type level transmitter correctly to ensure a tight and reliable connection with the vessel, and ensure the sensor is positioned appropriately to avoid interference. Regularly inspect the float for wear to ensure it floats and sinks normally.

In summary, the installation method of a float-type level transmitter significantly impacts measurement results. We should select the appropriate installation method based on actual conditions while paying close attention to installation details to ensure accurate and reliable measurement results.
